Indoor Facility

SAN RAFAEL SPORTS COMPLEX
The San Rafael Sports Complex is an economically self-sustaining multi-sport recreational facility that would allow families in Marin County the opportunity to recreate year round on safe, all-weather fields and courts- all built without a dime of taxpayer funds. The Airport Sports Complex is proposed for 9.1 acres on the San Rafael Airport property and includes indoor sports fields and recreation as well as outdoor soccer fields and practice areas.

Indoor Recreational Facility
Most indoor sports centers are comprised of metal buildings. The Project incorporated numerous features to break up the look of the building to add visual interest, conserve on lighting costs and enhancing the user experience with more windows to provide views of the surrounding hills and bay. The color combinations of green, brown and tan was used to blend into the surrounding natural background of fields, trees, and hills.

Bordering the proposed site to the north is a grove of Eucalyptus trees. The project plans to add additional trees. At maturity, these trees grow to over 60 feet and will screen the building from McInnis Park and surrounding residential neighborhoods.

Indoor Facility Plans
The facility includes a 71,300 square-foot recreational building with fields and courts on the ground floor and a 14,400 square foot 2nd floor viewing deck. The ceiling height and field sizes meet the national recreational standards for soccer and other field/court sports.
